The man who made a helicopter explode using a bow and arrow could be on his way to television. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Rambo himself could get his own show. Reports from deadline.com are saying that the creators are close to working out a deal with Fox for the rights to "New Blood" with none other than Rambo star Sylvester Stallone executive producing. The Rambo movies remains among the classic action movies and Rambo is still one of the biggest bad-@$$es in movie history. While this is all a formula for a hit show, it's not necessarily going to be a good thing if they think people will continue to tune in based on the name alone. It may be enough for the premier, but not enough to keep it going in the long run. Especially on Fox. A network notorious for canceling shows prematurely.
Thankfully they aren't going the route to make a Rambo remake with everything getting a remake. It looks like the story is going to be about Rambo and the relationship with son. This alone means that there will be enough drama between the two to last a season, but how long can this relationship actually last? Eventually the two will get along and then the show will have to rely on the actual story. Here's the good news to that. Jeb Stuart (writer of Die Hard and The Fugitive) will be one of the writers on board. This will add some more dialogue and banter to the show. To be completely honest, the Rambo movies aren't classics because of it's amazing dialogue and witty banner. The movie has been acclaimed because it's action. Adding a guy like Stuart could add exactly what could be needed to keep the show going.

All in all, this is going to be a terrible idea or a good idea. Unlike "Evil Dead", Rambo doesn't have the comedy appeal or cult following that has given the Evil Dead TV show high marks by fans. If the show was on a premium station like HBO, Starz, Cinemax, or something like that, it wouldn't be a question that the show would succeed. It's a channel that you can see a guy get his head blow off or his intestine fall out of his stomach without censorship. Fox, FX, and FXX may be a bit looser with what they allow on, they still have to hold back. And John Rambo does NOT hold back.
