"SkyVolt's coming!"
Immediately after "Continued-A-Rooney" brought an end to "Miggie" as Maddie encouraged Diggie to follow his dream of being a foreign exchange student in Australia, Liv and Maddie continued Season 3 with "Voltage-A-Rooney."
In the previous episode, Liv accepted a movie part as SkyVolt, a teenage girl named Tess that has the power of electricity, as long as the show is filmed in Stevens Point.
Although the first day's worth of shooting goes very well for the actress, she soon learns that playing a superhero will be the biggest challenge of her career.
Meanwhile, Maddie, fresh off of hitting the game-winning shot for Ridgewood High during the Wisconsin State girls' basketball Championship, is now a celebrity in her own town and is asked to lead the homecoming parade. But there's a catch. She must build a paper mache head of "Paulie the Porcupine" to wear during the march. Unfortunately for her, constructing a cabezudo is a tedious and drawn-out process, so Liv promises to help her sister after filming her TV show.
Yet after a long day on set, the movie star gets home too late to assist Maddie in finishing. In addition, Liv has a problem of her own: She is having trouble getting into character. However, Joey and Parker help Liv find her inner "SkyVolt" by allowing her to take target practice on them with air cannons.
Regrettably, after Joey lies and criticizes her superhero skills, she blasts Joey, causing him to fall and ruin Maddie's cabezudo. Panicky, Liv explains to her sister what happened and how upset she was at herself that they could not build it together due to filming.
Nevertheless, in the end, the twins rebuild the Paulie head for Maddie to don during the parade while Liv finally understands the character of SkyVolt and nails her performance.
Brotherly Trouble
Early in the episode, Joey and Parker discover an unused Goofy Gary's Funzone gift card that they had given to their parents as an anniversary present. Believing they would not get caught, the brothers spend the money on the card and place it back where it originally laid. Sadly for the boys (and because Joey forgot his student ID at the restaurant), their parents receive a call from Goofy Gary's, ultimately leading to them being busted.
Make sure to tune into Disney Channel next Sunday at 9:00 PM EST as Artie, Holden and new character Josh (played by Lucas Adams) try-out to be Liv's love interest in Voltage during "Co-Star-A-Rooney."
