This past Monday's 'Gotham' did not have a spine-tingling case, there were no thugs or weirdos being hunted down by Gordon and Bullock. Instead, this week's episode focused on the story lines rather than random criminals.
It started with news that Detective Flass had all charges dropped against him, had been reinstated into the GCPD, and was frontrunner to be President of the Policeman's Union. He was being heavily supported by Commissioner Loeb, which did not sit well with Detective Gordon. Flass was let loose due to a false confession by Gordon's partner Harvey Bullock, claiming that he had presented false evidence in order to bring charges to Flass. It didn't take long for Gordon to figure out Commissioner Loeb had dirt on Bullock and had no problem blackmailing him. It's later discovered that Loeb has files of nearly half the GCPD.
Gordon makes a deal with The Penguin in order to uncover where Loeb is keeping his files, in return he promises to do a favor for The Penguin in the future. They are led to a farmhouse, where an elderly couple invites them in for tea and deserts. The married couple sense that something is not right and quickly pull weapons on Bullock, Gordon and Penguin. While the man is shot and the woman is knocked out, Bullock and Gordon leave Penguin to watch as they make their way toward a thumping noise in the attic.
It's discovered that Loeb has a middle-aged daughter locked up in the attic, which he visits once a week to drink tea and play checkers. Loeb's wife was killed when she fell down the stairs 20 years prior, and his daughter Miriam was responsible. Miriam is clearly not in the right frame of mind, as the Commissioner admitted the only way to keep her out of Gotham was to keep her locked up in that attic.
Gordon heads to the Commissioner, telling him all about how they found his daughter, and he is quickly granted Harvey Bullock's file, and President of the Policeman's Union. It seems as though Gordon is starting to learn the ways of the city in this episode.
Meanwhile, we pay a visit to Fish Mooney. Mooney, who spooned out her eye in a previous episode in order to keep a doctor from taking both of them, found a new eye given to her. Her new eye is bright blue, and it's a pretty bone-chilling scene, knowing that the eye came from an actual other human being. Colm Feore (The Borgias) finally makes his first appearance as Dr. Francis Dulmacher, and it isn't long before him and Fish create a business relationship.
Alfred's recovery has gone well and he is still in the hospital, and it is not lost on Bruce Wayne that the big wigs at Wayne Enterprises want him and Alfred out of the picture. There are four episodes left in the season, and they are sure to complicate an already messy story.
'GOTHAM' airs next on Monday, April 13th at 8/7c on FOX.
