The Walking Dead: Five Things To Look For In Second Half Of Season Five
Gene Page/AMC

The second half of season five of The Walking Dead is nearing, and here are a few things to look for going in.

Eugene Dying

Yes, this author predicted Eugene dying before the start of the season, and that prediction still stands. With Eugene revealing that he is not a scientist and cannot save the world, there will be less supervision on him. After all, he used his lie as a protection mechanism.

We all know Eugene is no good with these biters and with less guardianship from his Sargent, he is likely to get himself killed.

In the fifth episode of the season when Eugene tells Tara that if he couldn’t save the world then no one would protect him, Tara says, “Of course we would.” Come on Tara. We know that’s a lie. They may try to protect him, but Eugene damn well knows that he cannot survive on his own. He needs someone to watch him like a child and be around him at all times, but that’s not going to happen anymore.

Morgan Re-reuniting with Rick

At the end of the first and last episode in the first half of the season we saw glimpses of Morgan, and it looked like he was about a month behind Rick’s group. In the last episode, however, Morgan found the map that had Rick’s name on it.

It’s clear that Morgan is looking for Rick, and he could end up finding him. When will he find him? Well, as the writers like to do so often, they will probably show Morgan spotting Rick and his group in the season finale, leaving us with a cliffhanger.

More Zombie Slaying

This may sound cliché, but it really isn’t. We really haven’t seen too many zombie kills over the past couple of seasons since our survivors have been busy dealing with other people rather than walkers.

Now, they are left homeless and are out in the open. And you know what that means? The walkers will become the main threat once again, sort of like season one, hopefully. From the looks of it, the group is now headed to Virginia, meaning they will be on foot a lot more, scouring the outside world for food and supplies to help them along the way while running into the undead.

It would be good to see our survivors encounter biters for a change instead of running into different groups that want to kill them. As long as they are left without a home, there should be more zombie kills.

New Storyline: Getting to Virginia

As mentioned above, it looks like the group is on its way to Virginia to find a new home. In the newly released two-minute video of the opening episode, Noah informs Rick that he and Beth were headed there.

It was secure. It has a wall, homes, 20 people,” Rick says in the video. “It’s a long trip, but if it works out, it’s the last long trip we have to make.”

So it seems like the ‘ringleader’ is definitely on board to take the group to Virginia, and thus we have our new storyline.

Unexpected Death?

Glenn? Maggie? Carl? Carol? DARYL? Who will The Walking Dead unexpectedly kill off during the latter half of the season?

Although it’s not a guarantee that any of these characters will die, but the show has had a lot of unexpected deaths, ones that hit us right in the feels. Who will it be this time? Perhaps even Michonne? Abraham? Tara? Tyreese? Sasha?

We can’t say for sure, but there could be an enormous death coming. Many people have speculated Glenn, but we will see.

The Walking Dead mid-season premiere returns Sunday, February 8th, at 9 pm Eastern Time.
