*Spoilers Ahead*
'Gotham' had been on hiatus for a few weeks leaving fans wondering, what exactly would happen to Detective James Gordon? Gordon was demoted by the Mayor at the end of the fall finale and the start of this newest episode see's him working as a security guard in Arkham Asylum.
A new character is brought into the mix, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who seems to have a bit of an attraction to Gordon. While Gordon's new boss, Dr. Lane threatens to take Gordon off the job if inmates keep acting out, there's something else going on that's affecting the well-being of the patients. The ride Gordon goes down to find the one responsible for electro-shocking inmates to control them is a rough one, and the one responsible isn't even apprehended in the episode.
Meanwhile, Gordon's personal life is basically non-existent for the time being. His fiancé Barbara had been sleeping with her ex-lover, detective Montoya while trying to get over Gordon. Montoya breaks things off with Barbara, and after thinking Jim is cheating on her, it seems as though this relationship is going to be an extreme rollercoaster before it gets back to working right.
Also, Fish Mooney makes her presence known in this episode, by stating she wants to take control of the family business once Falcone is out of the picture. She's met with resistance, and ultimately her bodyguard Butch double-crosses his boyhood best friend and kills him for the sake of Mooney and the future of Gotham's crime.
'Gotham' airs on FOX every Monday at 8/7 central.
