'Gotham' spent the first few weeks following a tame storyline, with criminals who weren't really that dangerous. However, this past Monday 'Gotham' showed it's potential.
Detective James Gordon and his partner were faced with a killer who carried a concealed blade, and with politicians dropping like flies it was urgent to find this killer. While the killer was eventually shot down, this episode introduced the story of Arkham Asylum and it highlighted exactly how corrupt the city is. Mob bosses controlling politicians, putting a hit out on politicians who wouldn't vote for their plan, the whole episode vibrated with underhanded tones.
The other side to the story is also James Gordon's personal life, which seems to be in complete shambles following this episode. He's having trouble living freely since Oswald came back into the picture, and his fiancé seems to have had enough of it. Fish Mooney was also up to no good in this episode, pitting two women against one another for a job, building for what seems to be a future attack against Falcone.
The show has gotten much darker since it premiered a few weeks ago, and there's still so much storytelling left. All of the evil villains haven't even started to turn bad as of yet, and with that coming at an eventual date, the show will be even more captivating than it already is.
For only having four episodes under its belt, 'Gotham' has twisted a web that has viewers reaching for more.
'Gotham' is on every Monday on FOX at 8PM ET.
