Marvel Announces 9 Movies For It's Cinematic Universe's 3rd Phase
The Official Timeline for the announced 3rd Phase

Marvel have been a dominant force in movies based on comic book characters, ever since the start of their Cinematic Universe with Iron Man in 2008. However, now 6 years later, Marvel have announced nine more movies for this Universe running until 2019. The Universe is about to get more diverse with the introduction of characters such as Doctor Strange and Black Panther while announcing more sequels for Thor, The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

The full list of movies and their release dates are listed below:

Captain America 3: Civil War – May 6, 2016

Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017

Thor: Ragnorok – July 28, 2017

Black Panther – November 3, 2017

Captain Marvel – July 6,  2018

Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 - May 3, 2019

Some of these movies movies have been predicted by fans for a while now, whilst others are complete surprises. Captain America's movie is going to kick-off what is now being called the Civil War phase of the Universe, most likely taking inspiration from the Civil War comic series. This comes with the news that Robert Downey Jr, the actor who plays Iron Man, would a be cast in the latest Captain America. This caused much discussion on whether the movie would be based on the Civil War, but with this announcement it seems that the speculation was correct.

Both Black Panther and Captain Marvel will be huge milestones for Marvel; Black Panther will be the first black superhero to star as the lead in a Marvel movie and Captain Marvel will have the first woman superhero to star as a lead. There has also been news this week that Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has been in talks with Marvel to play Doctor Strange, as several actors rumored to play the role.

Marvel had been planning to use these announcements to reveal the first trailer for their upcoming 2015 movie Avengers:Age of Ultron. Though, when the trailer leaked, they decided to release it and after 5 days it has over 70 million views. The Avengers movies, so far, have been the collaboration of Earth's greatest heroes. Yet with the recent success of Guardians of the Galaxy and the announcement of 3rd Avengers movie being based on the Infinity War, then we might just see a combination of Earth's Heroes and the Guardians.

Marvel have to date made $7 billion at the global box office and with the announcement of all these movies its hard to see them failing.
