Samsung, LG Introduce 'Smart Flip Phones'
Samsung Galaxy Folder (TOP) and LG Gentle (BOTTOM)

LG released the LG Gentle in South Korea this past Monday. Just two days later, Samsung announced their Galaxy Folder in South Korea, set for an August release. The flip phones contain the durability to be expected from a flip phone, as well as the 'smart' features of a modern-day smart phone.

Flip phones have majorly been replaced by smart phones due to them having the ability to be as powerful as a low-end PC in your pocket, but recently, with people cracking their screens and smart phones becoming too large to fit in your pocket, there has been somewhat of a demand for the return of smart phones. This demand is especially large in Asia.

We decided to take a look into what these phones have to offer.

LG Gentle

The LG Gentle runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the newest Android OS.

The phone features 4G-LTE connectivity and a 3.2 inch screen inside the phone. It has a clamshell-style exterior, with no front screen. The screen measures in at 3.2 inches with a 480x320 display.

Inside the phone, there is a 1.1GHz quad core processor and four gigabytes of internal storage, which is expandable via a micro-SD card.. The rear camera (and only camera - sorry, selfie lovers) features four megapixels.

Samsung Galaxy Folder

It is unknown what OS the Galaxy Folder will run on, but we expect the phone to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The phone also features 4G LTE connectivity. The interior touch screen measures in at 3.8 inches, a bit wider than the Gentle's. The device also appears to feature a front screen, unlike the Gentle.

Other notable features of the phone include a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 8gb of internal storage (expandable via a microSD port), and two cameras. Unlike the Gentle, the device features both a rear camera (with eight megapixels) and a front camera (with two megapixels).

The phone is expected to run at $256 USD, a bit pricier than the Gentle's $170 USD price tag.
