Tech-giant Apple announced their financial results for the fiscal third quarter of 2015 today - and they are quite impressive. Revenue worldwide is up 33%, with Chinese revenue up 112%. With a 10.7 billion quarterly profit and a $49.6 billion revenue, there's no question that Apple had a successful third quarter.
Interestingly, Apple shied away from giving specific numbers for iPod and Apple Watch sales. However, they revealed that this quarter alone, they had sold 47 million iPhones, 10.9 million iPads, and 4.7 million Macs.
They also reported $2.6 billion in revenue in the section "Other", which includes sales of Apple TV, Apple Watch, Beats Electronics, iPod and Apple-branded and third-party accessories.
Additionally, they've made a $5 billion revenue on Services (iTunes, AppleCare, Apple Pay, etc.) with revenue from the App Store doubling this quarter.
However, 73% of the iPhone user base hasn't upgraded to the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, making great sales a definite possibility for the 6S and 6S Plus next quarter.
"We had an amazing quarter, with iPhone revenue up 59 percent over last year, strong sales of Mac, all-time record revenue from services, driven by the App Store, and a great start for Apple Watch," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.
However, Apple has seen more successful quarters. Just last quarter, Apple sold 61.1 million iPhones, 12.6 million iPads, and 4.5 million Macs. This is still a major improvement from this time last year, though, which saw 35.2 million iPhones sold, 13.2 million iPads sold, and 4.4 million Macs sold.
Although iPod and accessory sales have declined, the Apple Watch sales more than offset it. The growth of the "Other" category is more than 100% thanks to the Watch; the Watch has grown considerably and now has 8,500 apps compatible with it.
This year, more than 700 universities will support Apple Pay. Also, American Express will support Apple Pay on corporate cards in August 2015. There will be more than 1.5 million places supporting Apple Pay by the end of the year.
Also reported, a whopping 15,000 artists are using Apple Music's "Connect" feature. Millions are reportedly tuning into Beats 1.
Cook noted the success of Apple products being sold by Apple Stores, pointing out that Apple now has 456 retail locations globally, with 190 stores outside of the U.S. and 40 to open in China next year.
It was announced that 1.3 billion people have switched to Apple from Android, and the IDC predicts that in the next five years, the rate will grow to 1.9 billion switchers.
Earning $202.8 billion in revenue, Apple has pulled in over $200 billion in revenue for the first time. Only time will tell just how much the sales of the upcoming devices this September will help increase those numbers.
