South Ayrshire became the latest constituency to vote against Scottish independence as the Yes campaign endured a dismal night at the polls.
The area voted in favour of remaining in the union with a 58 per cent share of the vote.
The Yes campaign have taken just four areas throughout the night, with many experts calling the result early in favour of the Better Together campaign.
Several leading figures from the Yes campaign admitted defeat as the results continued to pour in in favour of remaining in the union.
