Eilean Siar declare their support for the "Better Together" campaign in the Referendum's forth declaration.
Despite being considered to be an almost certain council victory for the "Yes" campaign, Eilean Siar has surprisingly declared in favour of the union.
19,758 of the electorate turned out today (86.2%) to vote in the Scottish referendum, with 10,544 voting against independence, while 9,195 voted "Yes". A further 19 votes where rejected.
The "Better Together" campaign currently lead the polls by 13,438. 58% of declared votes have been in favour of the union, with the remaining 42% of the populace in favour of independence.
Like the previous three councils, Eilean Siar represents a very small percentage of the Scottish electorate. However, the victory for the "Better Together" campaign in an area widely regarded to be populated with "Yes" sympathizers, could be very telling in the final result of the Referendum.
